Sonos makes thoughtfully-designed, award-winning sound systems for the home. The new Sonos identity puts a fresh spin on the look and feel of the brand with a new approach to using color, illustration, typography, and some new design tools built with the future in mind.
With ‘Listen Your Way’ as our guiding principle, we aimed to free the brand from it’s tech-y aesthetic and empower the personalization of the sound experience. The most noticeable change within the brand’s new look is the introduction of color. Opting to reimagine the brand outside of the tech space, we got inspired by the scenery of Sonos’ hometown. The Santa Barbara palette–consisting of colors named Sky, Rose, Sand, Rust, and Pine–adds warmth to a brand that previously lived in black and white.

In addition to color, we refreshed the typeface and built a kinetic typographic system inspired by the movement of sound. We freed up the logo to be quite literally flipped on its head. And through illustration, we employed a graphic style to visually articulate the brilliance of Sonos products – from multi-room home devices to the in-app experience.
